Madison Ecumenical Center (MEC) Directory Ceases Publication
On November 4, 2022, the Church Women United (CWU) Board voted to cease publication of The MEC Directory, effective immediately. The first Madison Area Religious and Human Resources Directory was published by MEC in the late 1970’S. MEC has continued to publish the Directory ever since.

The MEC Directory listed Memberships, Advertisers, End of Life Services, Churches, Synagogues, Congregations, Emergency Community Resources for Food, Shelter, and Clothing, Human Resource, Advocacy Groups, and Special Ministries. The Directory also provided an alphabetical listing of Clergy.

Two Hundred Copies of the 2020-2022 Directory were printed. Eighty Directories were left. The remaining Directories were distributed to: Churches, Libraries, Funeral Homes, Non-Profits and other Service Agencies and Organizations.

The left-over Directories reflected the changing times and need for the Directory. With the development of the Internet and proliferation of websites for organizations, the MEC Directory is no longer needed. It is, and was, a very labor-intensive endeavor and over the years of publication served a useful purpose. That time has passed. The CWU Board felt that all of that time, cost, labor and energy could be better directed to new projects.

The CWU Board wishes to thank all of the members and volunteers who put in the time and effort to make the MEC Directory possible for so many years.
